Pokémon AU is an Alternate Universe where characters from the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons fandom are portrayed as Pokémon Trainers from the hit franchise Pokémon.
About the AU
In this world, creatures known as Pokémon roam the world in harmony with human beings. When a human reaches age 10 (Anime-universe), they are given a starter Pokémon by their local Professor and set off in the world, catching other Pokémon in devices called Poké-balls. They train the Pokémon, befriend them, use them to battle, and strive to become "Pokémon Masters". Pokémon Trainers can also strive to other ventures, including Gym Leaders, Pokémon Breeders, Pokémon Coordinators, etc.
Because of the radically different nature of the world, the characters, setting, technology, etc., these incarnations of the characters are significantly different from their original counterparts. Most commonly, this AU takes place in modern times.
When fans infuse the four and other characters with Pokémon, to make them Gijinka - half human and half Pokémon like people - can make this AU an alternative to Hybrid AU. The Pokémon anime and manga book series even makes it an alternative with Anime AU, just as the Pokémon games connects it to Arcade AU. While the many criminal organizations, like Team Rocket, and the law informants, like Officer Jenny and the Pokémon Rangers, in the Pokémon universe, along with Detective Pikachu, could have it as an alternative to Crime AU.
Featured Characters

The Big Four
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
Hiccup is a Pokémon Trainer that normally specializes in Dragon-type Pokémon. Because Dragon-types are naturally powerful and one of the least common types, Hiccup being able to catch one, let alone train one is an impressive feat to behold. Since Hiccup has had many battles in the air and wears a flightsuit, fans can easily have him taking part in Sky Battles while wearing a Sky Trainer suit, that is of the color scheme of either of his two flightsuits.
What Pokémon Toothless is often differs from story to story. The most common Pokémon used is Dragonite, (a shiny or mega X form) Charizard and Noivern. One of the more unorthodox decisions amongst fans places Toothless as an Umbreon, a non-dragon Pokémon. There have also been fans that have Toothless as a Pikachu, for when Hiccup is placed as a Ash Ketchum or Red-like character.
Because Pokémon Legends: Arceus take place in the past than the common modern setting of the Pokémon world, it could have fans focusing on the Viking era (late 8th/11th century) that How to Train Your Dragon takes place in. As there have been fanfics and art that have none modern versions of Hiccup and his friends with Pokémon.
Jack Frost
Jack is as a Pokémon Trainer that normally specializes in Ice-type Pokémon. His partner isn't any particular Pokémon, although he is most often seen with an Glaceon; that he had raised from an Eevee. While Jack being a Winter Spirit could possibly place a Ghost-type Pokémon, as well as a Ice Ghost-type like Froslass, in his team or simply have him being friends with one.
Merida DunBroch
Merida is often portrayed as a Trainer that either specializes in Fire-Types or with no specific type at all. She is most commonly seen with an Ursaring (representing her mother as a bear) and a group of Teddiursa (her three brothers as bear cubs). Whether she actually caught these bear-like pokémon or if they are wild pokémon she has a bond with differs from story to story.
Her horse, Angus is commonly portrayed as the (normal form) Fire-type horse Pokémon Ponyta, or its evolved form (which is also commonly of its normal form) Rapidash; some fans however see Angus being portrayed as a Mudsdale (as it deeply resembles a Clydesdale horse) or a Zebstrika (because of Angus's black and white color scheme). Because of fans commonly see her with a Teddiursa and Ursaring, she can also be given the four other bear-like Pokémon, Cubchoo, Beartic, Pancham and Pangoro. As well as having a Teddiursa, Cubchoo and Pancham to represent her "bear cub" brothers; instead of having three of the same Pokémon to represent the triplets. Her fighting spirit and connection to bears, could even place a Kubfu/Urshifu in her Bear Pokemon team. Merida's archery skills could even place a Decidueye in her team, as the Grass Ghost-type is known as the Arrow Quill Pokémon and being able to wield a vine-like bow that shoots leaf-headed arrows through the Pokémon's Z-move, Sinister Arrow Raid. There are also fans that place a Ghost type Pokémon, like a (shiny) Gastly or a Litwick, in her team, in homage to the Will -O'-the-Wisps. Her family's necklace can even serve or be used as a "mega necklace" that holds her key stone, for when a Pokémon that is capable of Mega Evolution is placed in her team.
Because Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the past than the common modern setting of the Pokémon world, it could have fans focusing on the Middle Ages setting that Brave takes place in. As there have been fanfics and art that have none modern versions of Merida and other characters from the Pixar film with Pokémon.
Rapunzel Corona
Rapunzel's specialty type is often disputed. Some authors have her specialize in Electric-Types, while others have her with Fairy-Types, Grass-Types and Psychic-Types. While Rapunzel is commonly seen as a Pokémon Trainer, there have been rare occasions where she is placed as a Gym Leader.
Her best friend Pascal is commonly portrayed as a Kecleon, which is a Normal-type Pokémon or a Sobble, which is a Water-type starrer Pokémon that is based on a chameleon, while her horse friend Maximus is commonly portrayed as a Rapidash, a Fire-type (while the Galar region has Rapidash as a Psychic/Fairy-type). She can also be partnered up with a Yellow Flabébé/Floette/Florges or a Sunflora, in homage to the Sun Drop flower. While the name of the Disney film that she is form has fans placing a Tangela (or its evolved form, Tangrowth) in her team, as a pun. Her art skills could even have her owning a Smeargle, while the shape of Corona's crest could have her catching a Solrock. There have even be those that place a Lampent in Rapunzel's team or simply have her being friends with a wild Lampent or a group of them, to possibly reference Corona's lanterns.
Her blond hair and her connection to the sun could even cast her as Lillie from Pokémon: Sun & Moon (mainly Sun), as Nebby (the Cosmog that Lillie looks after) evolves into the legendary Pokémon of the sun, Solgaleo. Due to Rapunzel's connection to the sun and Corona's sun shaped crest.
Because Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the past than the common modern setting of the Pokémon world, it could have fans focusing on the 11th/13th century setting that Tangled takes place in. As there have been fanfics and art that have none modern versions of Rapunzel and her friends with Pokémon.
Extra Characters
Queen Elsa
Elsa is mostly seen as a Pokémon Trainer or Gym Leader that specializes in Ice-types. The badge of her gym can be made to look like the golden Arendelle orb or one of the main snowflakes from first or second Frozen films, since they are seen as her personal mark, while her gym could resemble her ice castle. Some see Elsa as the Ice-Type specialist Champion of her regain, due to her being Arendelle's (former) queen and her second castle sitting at the top of a mountain, since most of the Pokémon League locations in the Pokémon games reside in "high" mountain-like places.
Her partner isn't any particular Pokémon, although she is most often seen with an Glaceon (while Anna is partnered up with a Leafeon), a Froslass, Abomasnow (as fans sometimes have the Frost Tree Pokémon as a means to reference Marshmallow in the AU, or simply portray it/him as one), an Alola Vulpix/Ninetales (while Anna has a normal Vulpix/Ninetales) and even a Articuno. Elsa and her sister's snowman friend Olaf is commonly portrayed as a Snover, that is a friend to both sisters; as it is both an ice and grass-type. Elsa's encounter with the Nokk could even have her coming across and befriending either Keldeo (to match with the horse spirit's watery element) or Glastrier (to match with the snow form Elsa gives the water spirit), catch any one of the other horse-like Pokémon; or to simply have Elsa catching a ice water-type Pokémon so it could serve as a reference to her taming the Nokk. Just as Bruni could also have Elsa catching a Salamence or Salandit/Salazzle, since both of their names and one of their based on inspirations are drawn from a salamander, any of the other reptile-like Pokémon that closely looks like a salamander or Bruni himself, or just have Elsa simply catching a ice fire-type Pokémon to reference both of their elemental abilities over ice and fire. While both a ice flying-type and a ice ground-type Pokémon serve as a reference to the other two elemental spirits of wind and earth from Frozen II, since Elsa was able to tame them before she became the fifth spirit of ice.
Because Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the past than the common modern setting of the Pokémon world, it could have fans focusing on the past timeline era setting that Frozen takes place in. As there have been fanfics and art that have none modern versions of Elsa and her friends with Pokémon.
Princess Anna
Since Anna is the warm, summer version of the older sister, she is seen as a Pokémon Trainer or Gym Leader that commonly specializes in Grass-types; due to the flower patterns that are on some of the dresses she wears. As well as specializing in other kinds of Pokémon Types. Her partner isn't any particular Pokémon, although she is most often seen with a Leafmen (while Elsa is partnered up with a Glaceon), one of the two Deer-like Pokémon, Stantler and a (spring or summer form) Deerling (or its evolved form Sawsbuck) and a (normal) Vulpix/Ninetales (while Elsa has an Alola Vulpix/Ninetales). Anna and her sister's snowman friend Olaf is commonly portrayed as a Snover, that is a friend to both of the sisters; as it is both a grass and an ice-type.
Because Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the past than the common modern setting of the Pokémon world, it could have fans focusing on the past timeline era setting that Frozen takes place in. As there have been fanfics and art that have none modern versions of Anna and her friends with Pokémon.
Vanellope von Schweetz
Because of the sugary theme of Sugar Rush and the style of Vanellope's pink princess dress, she is seen as a trainer (that is sometimes featured as an older version of her) that specializes in Fairy-types, or is partnered up with Pokémon that are based on "sugary" food, like Vanillite/Vanillish/Vanilluxe and Swirlix/Slurpuff. Her partner isn't any particular Pokémon, although she is most often seen with a Pichu/Pikachu/Raichu, Fennekin, Porygon2/Porygon-Z, Pachirisu, Rotom and a Jigglypuff. While Slaughter Race Vanellope would most likely have a few Dark and Steel-type Pokémon in her team, to reference the online she became apart of in Ralph Breaks the Internet.
Professor Bomba
Since Radcliffe Bomba is already a professor and has spent a lot of time working on his research, it can easily make and portray him as a local Pokémon Professor that gives trainers their starters and look after other trainers Pokémon. His house can serve as his lab, while Ozzi is portrayed as a dog-like Pokémon - like a Growlithe, Poochyena, Lillipup, Rockruff or any of the others and their evolved forms. While his daughter serves as his assistant, before she leaves on her own journey and gets her starter from him (which most likely be a Grass-Type).
He can also be a professor that is studying the Pokémon that live in the forest next to his house, along with a Pokémon and the realm that it comes from, that is said to exist in legend.
Moana Waialiki
Moana is mostly seen as a Pokémon Trainer that specializes in Water-Types (or any of the island themed Pokémon from Sun & Moon, as they match some of the themes from the 2016 Disney film). Because of the setting in the film, Moana can be a trainer living in the Alola Region (with Motunui as one the Alola islands): as well as a trainer that is taking part in the island challenge or being one of the island's Trial Captains. If Moana should encounter the Guardian deities, it would most likely be Tapu Fini (a Water and Fairy type, for her friendship with the Ocean) or Tapu Bulu (a Grass and Fairy type, for the friendship she formed with Te Fiti).
Her friend Pua is commonly portrayed as one of the two pig Pokémon, Spoink or Tepig, while Heihei is the chicken Pokémon Torchic, it's evolved form Combusken or as a Rowlet. Along with being commonly partnered up with a Popplio, as her starter, a Lapras (in place of her sailboat) and a Mantine, in homage to her grandmother's manta ray tattoo and the form her spirit took.
Because Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the past than the common modern setting of the Pokémon world, it could have fans focusing on the past timeline era setting that Moana takes place in. As there have been fanfics and art that have none modern versions of Moana and her friends with Pokémon.
Maui
Maui is a Pokémon Trainer that is partnered with Pokémon that resemble his animal transformations. Like a Sharpedo (shark), Pidgeot, Fearow, Braviary or a Talonflame (eagle/hawk), Wailord (wail) and so on. He can also be a Island Kahuna in the Alola region and being a demigod could have him being friends with his island's Guardian Deity or had encountered it.
Because Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the past than the common modern setting of the Pokémon world, it could have fans focusing on the past timeline era setting that Moana takes place in. As there have been fanfics and art that have none modern versions of Moana and her friends with Pokémon.
Tamatoa
Since Tamatoa is a crab, he is seen as one of the crab-like Pokémon like Krabby, Kingler and Crabrawler. Mostly as a for his purple "skin" and the themes from Sun & Moon matching some of the themes from Moana. Tamatoa could even be featured as a shiny Pokémon, as a pun to the title/name of his song.
Guardians of Childhood
Since there are four Guardians (before Jack joined them), they can easily be portrayed as members of the Elite Four; each one being a master of a Pokémon type. North would be the Elite Four member of Ice-Type Pokémon, since his holiday is in winter and lives in the North Pole. Tooth can be the member of Flying-Types (due to her bird-like appearance) or of Psychic-Types (as memories reside deep within the mind), some of the Pokémon in her team can even be a bit of both with Psychic-Flying Type Pokémon like a Sigilyph; as they are both colorful with a touch of green. She could even be the Elite Four member of Fairy-Type Pokémon, for being the Tooth Fairy and the mother of her little Tooth Fairies. Bunny can be a trainer of Fighting-Types (for his fighting skills with his boomerangs), Grass (due to the element of Spring) or of Normal-Types (so he could have the two Normal rabbit-like Pokémon, Buneary/Lopunny, Bunnelby/Diggersby and Scorbunny/Raboot/Cinderace, as part of his team). While Sandy's dreamsand can easily have him as a master of Ground-Types.
With the Guardians as the Elite Four and Jack being the trainer that faces them as the final part of his journey in their region, MiM can be placed as the Champion. MiM's power over the Moon's light can even have him being friends with the Moon Pokémon of the Cosmic duo, Lunala; as well as having a Lunatone in his team. Just as Sandy's dream powers could have him being friends with the Lunar Pokémon of the Lunar duo, Cresselia.
Tinker Bell
When Tink is placed in this AU, she is portrayed as a Pokémon Trainer (and a young human), that is seen specializing in Fairy-Types (for being a fairy herself), as well as owning Pokémon that represent her skills and life as a Tinker-Talent fairy. Tinker Bell can even have a mouse-like to represent Cheese, a firefly-like Pokémon (or any of the other Bug-type Pokémon) to serve as Blaze and a few other Pokémon that reference her friends. Tink's friends - and the other fairies and characters from Disney Fairies - can also be Pokémon Trainers, that have Pokémon that reference on the elements and tasks of their talents.
Water-Type Pokémon for Silvermist, due to the watery element of her talent. Grass-Types and flower-like Pokémon for Rosetta, due to her earth/plant-like powers. Pokémon that can use Sunny Day, a Solrock and even a few Fire-Types for the Light-Talent fairy, Iridessa. Forest Animal-like Pokémon that suit Fawn. Fast moving Pokémon and even some Flying-Types for Vidia. While Periwinkle could specialize in Ice-Type Pokémon for being a Frost-Talent fairy. The Pokémon in their teams can even be the type of animals that their talents allow them to be close with; like how bumblebees are close with Garden-Talent fairies and tadpoles are fund of Water-Talent fairies.
While Tink and her friends being fairies could also has fans feature them as Fairy-Type Pokémon, with a second type that matches their talent, for fun. Like Fire, Grass, Flying, Bug and Water. With Lizzy Griffiths as their trainer or as a young girl that befriends them and allows them to remain as wild Pokémon.
Mavis Dracula
Since Mavis is a vampire and they are considered as "Creatures of the Night", Mavis can be a trainer that specializes in Dark-Types. Her ability to transform herself into a bat and other kinds of animals (seen in Hotel Transylvania 2), can also have her owning a bat-like Pokémon - a like a Zubat - and other animal Pokémon that resemble her transformations. As well as having a team that resents her monster friends and family members. Because of the summer clothes that Mavis wore in the third Hotel Transylvania film, and spending time on a ship that sailed her to a few locations, could have her traveling to the Alola Region as part of her journey, after she had completed her journey through her home region, as a starting trainer.
Mavis can even be a Gym Leader of Dark, Ghost or any other kind of Pokémon type that suits her best. Her father's hotel can serve as her gym, as well as a hotel that challengers can rest at on their journey, challenge other trainers and can try to beat Mavis in a Gym Battle so they could win her badge. Her gym's badge can be made to look like the hotel's logo, a bat serving as a T on top of a H or having the H on top of the Bat T; or simply have the badge take the form of a black bat.
The Once-ler
The Once-ler can be a Pokémon Trainer that is partnered up or friends wild Pokémon that resemble the animals that live in the Truffula Forest. A group of Magikarp can serve as the Humming Fish (as they are both orange fish), Teddiursa for the Bar-ba-loots, the Swomee Swans as any of the bird-like, Flying-Type Pokémon (like a group of Swanna), the Once-ler's mule, Melvin can be a Mudbray/Mudsdale; while the Lorax being the Guardian of the Forest can portray or have the Once-ler being friends with a Celebi. A Celebi can even use its time traveling powers to bring Ted Wiggins to the time to where the Once-ler came across the forest, so he could learn his story by taking part in it and to possibly change the outcome. There have also been fans that have the Lorax friends with the time traveling, forest guardian Pokémon.
The Once-ler's time as Greed-ler and destroying the Truffula Forest with his greed and the poisons seeping out of his factory, can even have him specializing in Poison-Types and possibly some Dark-Types. While old Once-ler would force on Grass-Types, and would make sure that nothing and no one would repeat his mistake and do what he can to keep his friends' home safe, standing strong and kept healthy for the wild Pokémon that live in the forest.
Dragons
Since dragons are part of the Pokémon universe, in the form of Dragon-type Pokémon, the dragon characters in the fandom can easily be placed as Pokémon of that type in the AU, along with giving a few of them a secondary type that best suits the dragon; like Fire, Water, Ground, Flying, Ice, Electric or any of the other types. They can either be placed as known Pokémon that exist or can be featured as Fakemon - fanmade Pokémon - versions of themselves. Hiccup, his friends and other Dragon Riders, along with those those who are very close with dragons (like Raya) are seen Pokémon trainers who specialize in Dragon-types when their dragons are placed as Pokémon, along with other kinds of Pokémon that suits them or their dragons with their elements, appearance and even their abilities.
Alpha dragons can even be featured as Dragon-Type Pokémon that are Legendries, as most Legendary Pokémon are known to be large just as most Alpha Dragons are (while Toothless remained in his medium size when he became an alpha). Valka's Bewilderbeast can be placed as Kyurem's White form while Drago's Bewilderbeast is the Ice-Dragon's Black form, as Bewilderbeast dragons are known as Ice Alpha Dragons, and both a white and dark Bewilderbeast were featured in How to Train Your Dragon 2. Toothless' dark colored scales, channels lightning in order to use his cloaking ability, is a Alpha dragon and has a rider with peaceful ideals for both humans and dragons, could have Toothless (or any other Night Fury) as Zekrom, while the Light Fury's white scales and her kind being of a sup-species of Night Furies could feature her (or any other Light Fury) as Reshiram. While dragons with multiple heads, like a Hideous Zippleback and Snaptrapper, can be featured as a Zweilous or its evolved form Hydreigon. Even though Charizard looks like a dragon (due to the fire starter Pokémon of the Kanto region being based upon the Dragon of the Chinese Zodiac) and only Mega Charizard X is a Fire Dragon-type, while both Mega Y and normal form Charizard aren't, it doesn't stop fans from featuring a Stocker Class dragon as the Flame Pokémon; as Toothless is sometimes placed as a Mega X form Charizard because of the Mega form's dark scale-skin.
Like Latios and Latias), Sisu is a dragon who has a connection a crystal-like orb that looks similar to the Soul Dew that is connected to the Eon dou.
The Croods
Since the Croods - counting Guy - and their film is based on the stone age era, fans would most likely place Pokémon that are extinct or are simply Rock-Types in their teams. Along with Pokémon that best suits them or resemble the hybrid animals from the films and its Netflix cartoon series.
Queen Tara
Tara's earth and forest powers can have her as a trainer that specializes in Grass-Types, her royal status could even have her as a Gym Leader, with her gym's badge resembling her pod, or the Champion of her regain. Some of the Grass-Bug-Type Pokémon in her team can be used to resemble the flower and insect people of Moonhaven, the Jinn.
Mandrake
Mandrake's goal to spread the rot, can easily have him specializing in Poison-Type Pokémon, along with some Dark-Types. Being the leader of group could even have him as the leader of his villainous team (like Team Rocket, Team Aqua, Team Magma and Team Flare), with Pokémon Trainer versions of the Boggans as his men.
Dogs
The dog characters in the fandom, like Bolt, Dante and Ozzi, can be featured as some of the dog-like Pokémon. As for the wolf characters, like the wolves from Frozen and Wayne and his family, are the wolf-like Pokémon; Wayna, Wanda and their pups could even be placed as (human) Pokémon Trainers that specializes in dog-like Pokémon. While dog-like creatures in the fandom, like Kyle and Dante in his Alebrije form, could possible be featured as a 10% Forme Zygarde.
Cats
The cat characters in the fandom, like Mittens, Mochi and Pig, can be featured as some of the cat-like Pokémon. House cats can be placed as cat Pokémon like a (normal or Alolan) Meowth, Glameow, Purrloin and a Litten. Wild, jungle-like cats, like Chunky, can be a Luxra, Litleo and a (male or female) Pyroar, while cat-like creatures in the fandom, like Pepita, could possibly be placed as a Meowstic or one of the three Legendary Beasts. Entei, Raikou or Suicune.
Birds
The bird characters in the fandom, like Tuffnut's chicken, the Leafmen's hummingbirds and Heihei, can be featured as some of the bird-like Pokémon; which would have them as Flying-Types. Owl characters, like Cassandra's Owl and Milori's snowy owl, can easily be featured as a Hoothoot/Noctowl or a Rowlet/Dartrix, the Witch's crow can be a Murkrow/Honchkrow, while the pigeons from Bolt, like Joey, Vinnie and Bobby, can be featured as a group of Pidove. Just as how Heihei and the fandom's other chicken characters can be placed as a Torchic/Combusken, since the fire starter Pokémon of the Hoenn region is based upon the Rooster of the Chinese Zodiac.
Baymax
Baymax is commonly portrayed as a Pokémon, rather then a (human) trainer like Hiro and the rest of the team. The Pokémon that Baymax is cast as are mostly a Snorlax (sometimes as a white one) or a Lickilicky, for his round-like body, a Golurk, due to the style of his 2.0 armor, while being a robotic nurse has Baymax as a Chansey/Blissey; or any of the other Pokémon that assist Nurse Joy at a Pokémon Center. Like an Audino (in the Unova region) and a Wigglytuff (in Kalos). Fans have also placed Baymax as a large Pikachu, for fun and for when Hiro is seen as Ash Ketchum. Should he be placed as a fakemon, a fan-made Pokémon, his type could most likely be Steel-Electric-type for being a robot, or could be a Normal or Flying (due to the flying ability of his red hero suit); of one or two of those types.
Because Baymax is commonly cast as a Pokémon, the Big Hero 6 team are sometimes cast as five kind and types of Pokémon beside him. There have also been fans that have Baymax as one of the six Pokémon in Hiro or Tadashi's team.
In the Pokémon series there are a few Pokémon that were artificially made, like Mewtwo and Type: Null/Silvally, just as Baymax and the rest of the team in the Big Hero 6 TV series had faced a few artificially made creatures, like the Mayoi and Bear Bessie, that could possibly serve as Pokémon in the AU. With the Mayoi as Grass-Types while Bear Bessie can be a Rock-Type Pokémon with the secondary of either Grass, Electric or Dark.
Miguel Rivera
Miguel is seen as a Pokémon Trainer, that is partnered up with Dante as one of the dog-like Pokémon, like a Houndoom or Rockruff. Miguel's love for music could even have him training the Pokémon in his team to use the move Sing and some of the dance related moves, like Petal Dance, Rain Dance and Flame Dance. Miguel's time in the Land of the Dead and meeting his dead relatives, could also place a Ghost-Type in his team.
Héctor leaving Imelda and young Coco for his dream and never returning from his journey, as the Riveras were unaware that he had died after he made the decision to cut his journey short and return home to his family, could have the Rivera family banding their children from going on journeys, like the one Héctor took with Ernesto, or to never train their Pokémon to do music related moves, and to never catch Pokémon that are known to enjoy music or has a connection to it. As Jigglypuff, Maractus, Bellossom, Ludicolo, Chingling/Chimecho and Kricketot/Kricketune are Pokémon that are known to enjoy music, dancing and singing, with their Pokémon cry or with the move Sing. After Miguel and his Pokémon partner uncovered the truth and the identic of his great-great-grandfather, the band was lifted and both the Rivera trainers and their Pokémon were able to welcome music into their lives.
Norman Babcock
Norman's ability to see and speak with ghosts, can easily have him as a young Pokémon Trainer that specializes in Ghost-Type Pokémon. He could even be friends with some of the wild Ghost-Types that live in the aria of Blithe Hollow, as he got along well with the dead residents of the town than he did with the living ones, before he met Neil Downe and had ended the witch's curse for good.
Fix-It Felix, Jr.
Felix's fixing ability with his magic hammer, can make him a Pokémon Trainer that is a builder and has a team of Pokémon, that construchion class trainers commonly use to assist them at work sights and jobs that involve heavy lifting. Like a Timburr/Gurdurr/Conkeldurr, Machop/Machoke/Machamp and a Geodude/Graveler/Golem.
Sergeant Tamora Jean Calhoun
Calhoun is seen as a Pokémon Trainer, that is partnered up with a Genesect. Due to her battles with the Cy-Bugs, when Hero's Duty is being played. Which could have her specializing in Bug-Type Pokémon, as a pun. Her leadership skills and acting as a guide for the players, could have her as a Gym Leader, as gym leaders are known for assisting trainers with guidance and advice; as well as testing their strength and bond with their Pokémon when they battle for their gym's badge.
Valka
Because of Valka's knowledge and compassion for dragons, from her time in the Dragon's hide and not seeing them as mindless monsters, as that was what the Hairy Hooligan Tribe of Berk saw them as before her son brought Vikings and dragons together, she can be featured as a Pokémon Trainer or Gym Leader that specializes in Dragon-type Pokémon.
Bolt
Since Bolt is an animal and not a person, he is cast as one of the dog-like Pokémon. As fans commonly have him as a Growlithe or a Electrike/Manectric. There have also been fans that have Bolt as a Fakemon (a fan-made Pokémon) version of himself, that is commonly seen as a Electric-Type; due to his name and the lighting bolt shape of his Mark of Power. Those traits and sometimes being seen as a Electrike or Manectric (which are Electric-Types), could even have Bolt as a Yamper/Boltund. While Bolt's time as a star in a TV show, that he wasn't aware of at the time, could have Bolt as one of the Pokémon that works at Pokéstar Studios beside Penny, as his trainer in a Pokémon version of the Bolt TV show.

Penny's time as a child actor could have her working at Pokéstar Studios, in a Pokémon version of the Bolt TV show. While fans liking to focus on her Bolt TV show self, the character that she played and how she presented herself in the show (and the video game that focuses on it), could have her and (Pokémon) Bolt going after or having a few encounters with a Pokémon criminal organization version of Dr. Calico and his men.
Evelyn Deavor
Evelyn's hypnotizing technology could have her specializing in Psychic-type Pokémon. Which would have her using her Pokémon partner to hypnotize people, or secretly studded Pokémon of that type, along with moves that have affects on the mind to help her build the tech. Because of her tech skills and background, her partner would most likely have a second type beside its psychic one, like Steel or Electric. Along with having Pokémon that are a Psychic Ice-type, for the "Elastigirl on ice" sense from Incredibles 2, along with a Psychic Water-type for the ship sense and a Psychic Flying-type for trying to escape by air. Keeping her true motives and the fact that she is the mastermind behind the Screenslaver a secret, would possibly have Evelyn keeping her psychic partner (or partners) a secret; while her non-psychic partner is out in the open beside her.
Pitch Black
Pitch's dark appearance and has shadow-like powers, can have him specializing in Dark-type Pokémon. Using nightmare sand, to create his nightmares, could even have Ground as the secondary type of some of the Dark-type Pokémon in his team, like a Sandile/Krokorok/Krookodile. While being the Spirit of Fear could have him specializing in dark ghost-type Pokémon, as well. Some of the his Pokémon (that fans place in his team) can reference the animal forms that his Nightmares take (as the video game of Rise of the Guardians has them having more than one). While his powers over nightmares, could have him owning or being friends with the Pitch-Black Pokémon of the Lunar duo, Darkrai.
Kubo
When Kubo is placed as a young Pokémon Trainer, he is commonly partnered up with a Vigoroth (to reference Monkey) and a Vikavolt or Heracross (to reference Beetle). While his origami skills could have him encountering a Kartana, one of the Ultra Beasts.
Franny Robinson
Due to Franny's childhood fascination with the music that frogs make and the work that she had done to turn her amphibians into her own personal orchestra, can easily have her as a Pokémon Trainer that specializes in frog-like Pokémon. Like a Poliwag/Poliwhirl/Politoed, Croagunk/Toxicroak and a Tympole/Palpitoad/Seismitoad. Her karate skills could even place a Fighting-Type Pokémon in her team, or it could have Franny finding time to train her frog pokemon for battles for when they aren't working on their music.
Kristoff Bjorgman
