Onward is a 2020 Disney/Pixar film that is set in a suburban fantasy world, where two elf brothers go in search of an artefact that will allow them to temporarily bring their late father back to life for a day, after they were only able to part of him back.
Plot[]
In a mythical inhabited world where its wizards help their fellow mythical creatures with their magic, but the difficulty of learning how to master it has led to the creation of technological advances. This has caused the practice of magic to die out in the modern fancy style world. The shy young elf, Ian Lightfoot has excepted the modern world as it is, while his older brother, Barley Lightfoot prefers the old one and tries to protect what remains of it. Ian didn't pay much mind to it and tries to not feel embarrassed by Barley, until the brothers were given their late father's Wizard Staff and a spell to bring him back to life for a day. Since Ian is the only one of the two brothers who is able to preform magic with the staff, he has to rely on Barley and his knowledge of magic, the old world and quests to complete the spell.
