Jessica Keynes (more commonly known by her shorten nickname Jess), who originally went by the superhero sidekick title of Sparrow before she became Eagle, is one of the young American heroes who Ladybug and Cat Noir befriend in the first TV special film of the Miraculous Ladybug series, Miraculous World: New York – United HeroeZ.

Powers and Abilities

Jess possesses no special or magical abilities, making her a normal, everyday human girl. Even though many of the other heroes in New York have superpowers while both she and her mother don't posses any of their own, being the daughter of the current Knightowl who made Jess her Sparrow is what allowed Jess to be taught in the combat and stealth superhero skills she uses to assist her mother and fellow heroes on the field.

Outside her hero life, Jess is shown to have skills in Guitar playing and Skateboarding, that she sometimes uses the later skill in her hero work.

Weapons

As Sparrow "he" wields bird shaped boomerangs that look a bit like throwing stars, along with having a wing styled jetpack known as the Wingpack for air rescues, missions and to help "him" get across the city by air. After she became the new fulltime holder of the Eagle Miraculous, Eagle gains its Bullroarer Miraculous weapon tool and feathers that are connected to its superpower, Liberation.

Barbara Keynes/Knightowl

The flashbacks in the first Miraculous World film shows that before Jess became Sparrow, her sidekick hero title was once held by her mother from when she assisted her generation's Knightowl; who later passed his title onto her. Indicating that Barbara hoped to one day to pass her current hero onto Jess when it was her turn to pass the mantel to her loyal sidekick, while Jess gives her former title to one she'll pick to serve as her Sparrow. Because all of the past known Knightowls and Sparrows before them were males, Barbara and Jess lie about their female genders in order to honour the tradition and their mission.
