Jurassic AU (also known as Jurassic Park/World AU, Prehistoric AU or Dinosaur AU) is a popular AU (Alternate Universe) within the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons fandom. In the AU, Rapunzel, Merida, Hiccup and Jack Frost are placed in the world of the Jurassic Park franchise.

About the AU[]

In this AU, the members of the Big Four travel, survive and spend time with ancient, prehistoric and extinct animals from Prehistoric/Jurassic past. As well as sometimes featuring them as dinosaurs and other kinds of prehistoric animals.

Even though this AU commonly uses Jurassic Park as a template; the four can still be cast in other Jurassic/Prehistoric related franchises. Like Dinosaur King, Prehistoric Park, Dinotopia, Ice Age, Dinosaur Planet and many more.

Spinoff AUs[]

Featured Characters[]

The Big Four[]

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III[]

Hiccup has a strong bond with dragons and that's why fans commonly have cast him as Owen Grady from Jurassic World. In the prequal LEGO cartoon TV series of Jurassic World, Owen is seen training and connecting with other types of dinosaurs than just the four main raptors from the film. This has cast Toothless as one of the four main JW Velociraptors, Blue (even though the raptor's blue eyes and female gender could have Toothless' Light Fury mate as Blue), fans also portraying the Nigh Fury as a dog in Modern AUs and crossovers could even have Toothless as Red from the Lego cartoon of Jurassic World. The other dragons that play Charlie, Echo and Delta are mostly Skullcrusher, Cloudjumper and Stormfly. Fans have also cast a young Hiccup as Gray Mitchell.

Hiccup can also be cast as a Nigel Marven-like character, as he goes back in time to rescue prehistoric animals from extinction by bringing them back to the modern day Prehistoric Park, similar to how he brought the rescued dragons back to the safety of Berk in the third film. As well as Max Taylor or Rex Owen from Dinosaur King, with the rest of his Dragon Rider friends as the D-Team. He could also be cast as a Skybax rider from Dinotopia, because of his position as a rider on a flying creature. In this scenario, he would likely be cast as Gideon Altaire, a character from the Dinotopia book series because of how he became the first human to ride a wild flying animal.

Hiccup could even be cast as Little Das from Dinosaur Planet; since both started off being perceived as physically the weakest and smallest in their families and tend to mess up in their attempts to prove themselves to others, particularly their mother or father, successfully doing so by redeeming themselves in their final attempts to succeed at being accepted, and suffering an encounter with a deadly ball of gas and flame.

If Hiccup were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Dinosaur, Hiccup's kind, brave and compassionate nature and doing what he can to help others, could have him as Aladar. While his caring personality could have him as a male version of Neera.

Jack Frost[]

Jack has had a close relationship with his little sister, and became separated from her following a tragic encounter with water that resulted in one of them dead, leading to a life of loneliness and longing for companionship, which he receives in the end, despite never seeing his original family. This scenario easily casts him as Pod from Dinosaur Planet.

Fans have also cast him as Owen Grady from Jurassic World, mostly for the Jelsa pairing. Being an older brother can even portray him as Zach Mitchell, with his sister or Jamie serving as Gray Mitchell. He has also been cast as a male version of Claire Dearing for the Hijack pairing.

If Jack were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Dinosaur, Jack being separate from his mother, found a new family and does what he can to help others, can easily cast him as Aladar.

Merida DunBroch[]

Merida is a fierce fighter even in single combat, has had others fight for her affection, and will attack those who harm anyone in her family. This, coupled with having three youngsters in her family, casts her as White Tip from Dinosaur Planet. However, she could also be cast as Lauren Slayton from Dinosapien, because of similar knowledge in archery skills and the occasional squabbles with her mother.

Rapunzel Corona[]

Rapunzel is very gentle in nature and has grown up learning from experience how dangerous the world can be, and has had a close relationship with her arch nemesis from the moment she was born. This leads to her being cast as Alpha from Dinosaur Planet.

If Rapunzel were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Dinosaur, Rapuzel's kind, brave and caring personality and the way she does what she can to help others, could have her as Neera. While her playfulness could also have her as Suri.

Extra Characters[]

Hiro Hamada[]

Fans have cast Hiro as Gray Mitchell, when Tadashi is Zach Mitchell from Jurassic World. Like Gray, Hiro is a very bright boy that has faced and ran away from his far share of dangers.

Tadashi Hamada[]

Fans have cast Tadashi as Zach Mitchell, when Hiro is Gray Mitchell from Jurassic World. Like Zach, Tadashi cares about his brother, does what he can to protect him and keeps a cool head in the face of danger. There have also been a few fans who have cast him as Owen Grady.

Red Death[]

Fans commonly see the Red Death as a female T-Rex and the Green Death (from the app game Rise of Berk and the online game School of Dragons) as the male T-Rex. As the Red Death is known as the Queen of the dragons in her nest, and there are theories that the Green Death from the two HTTYD games is a male.

Drago's Bewilderbeast[]

Fans see Drago's Bewilderbeast (or Valka's for it's white skin) as the Indominus, from Jurassic World. As they are alphas and had their "packs" re-join their allies. While being a tidal class dragon can make either one of them the Mosasaurus, or any other type of large dinosaurs that live underwater.

Toothless[]

Toothless and his kind (that are well known as the offspring of lightning and death itself) are portrayed as Jurassic Park/World Velociraptors. He can also be cast as Chomp or Ace from Dinosaur King, when Hiccup is Max Taylor or Rex Owen. Toothless could even be placed as a Skybax from Dinotopia while Hiccup serves as his Skybax rider.

Dragons[]

Since dragons are already large reptiles, the dragon characters in the fandom can easily serve and be portrayed as Dinosaurs. As Speed Stinger dragons resemble Raptors, in appearance and behavior. They could also be the mounts known as Skybax from Dinotopia since they are used in a similar manner, whether it be scouting/rescue missions or to give out reports and messages.

While Toothless and his mate's three hatchings, the Night Lights, being of a sub-hybrid species of both night furies and light furies, and there being many other kinds of dragon hybrids in the app game, Dragons: Titan Uprising, could be used as a reference for the genetically made hybrid dinosaurs from the Jurassic World saga.

Dragon Riders[]

The Dragon Riders would most likely be Skybax riders from Dinotopia, as they usually ride flying reptiles as a means of travel and to carry out missions.

The Croods[]

Since the Croods are a family of cavemen, fans can place them in the world of The Good Dinosaur as they make them cavemen that exist in the film's Jurassic-"modern" timeline and world. They can even be cast as the family that took Spot in or be friends with them. They could even be placed in the of Ice Age and be featured as some of the humans from the first film, since cavemen and the people of the Ice Age timeline are one of the two earlier stages of man.

Tiny the T-Rex[]

Since Tiny is already a dinosaur he can be portrayed as himself, as well as the one of the Tyrannosauruses from the Jurassic Park franchise.

Leafmen[]

The Leafmen tend to ride creatures that fly, usually all in the same species, so they could easily be cast as Skybax riders.

Nod[]

Because he is part of a union of people that use flying steeds as a means of travel, Nod would most likely be a Skybax rider from Dinotopia. He could also be cast as one of the Scott Brothers of the similarly named miniseries: David Scott, for his tendency to ride a creature that's a different species from the rest (a sparrow/Pteranodon as opposed to a hummingbird/Skybax), or Karl Scott because of his rebellious nature and issue with authority.

Mary Katherine[]

Some fans may cast M.K. as Claire Dearing based on her appearance in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. However, some could cast her as Lauren Slayton from Dinosapien because of similar backgrounds such as having a scientist father who tried to provide evidence for something that everyone else scoffed at and later finding out that this believe was proven right, wearing a hoodie, and even starting off at the beginning in a damp mood from the loss of a parent. She could also be cast as a Skybax rider from Dinotopia, since she was seen flying a winged steed all on her own at the near end of Epic.

Queen Elsa[]

Fans have portrayed Elsa as Claire Dearing from Jurassic World, whenever Hiccup, Flynn or Jack is cast as Owen Grady.

If Elsa were to be put into the storyline of Disney's' Dinosaur, Elsa's kind, brave and caring personality and doing what she can to help others, could have her as Neera. While being an older sister and her motherly-like personality can also have her as Plio.

Princess Anna[]

Fans have portrayed Anna as Claire Dearing from Jurassic World, when Hiccup is cast as Owen Grady.

If Anna were to be put into the storyline of Disney's Dinosaur, Anna being a younger sister and her kind and brave personality could have her as Neera. While wanting to find love could have female version of her as Zini, just as her playful personality could have her as Suri.

Pascal[]

Since Pascal is a reptile, fans can feature him as one of his prehistoric ancestors.

Globby[]

The dinosaur forms that Globby took of a T-Rex and Pterodactyl, could have fans portray Globby as one of the two dinos for fun. When Globby was in his T-Rex form a banner briefly floats down in front of him, in the episode "Countdown to Catastrophe", as it recreates the famous climax scene from the first Jurassic Park film.

Barley Lightfoot[]

Due to being voice acted by Chris Pratt, Barley is cast as Owen Grady from Jurassic World.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng[]

One of the akumatized villains that Ladybug has faced with Cat Noir was able to shapeshift into a T-Rex. There have also been a few ML fan comics and fanfics that have the Ladybug and Cat Noir face a dinosaur-themed villain.

Adrien Agreste[]

One of the akumatized villains that Cat Noir has faced with Ladybug was able to shapeshift into a T-Rex. There have also been a few ML fan comics and fanfics that have the Ladybug and Cat Noir face a dinosaur-themed villain.

Plagg[]

According to Master Fu and one of Adrien's webisodes that is about his Kwami friend, Plagg was the one who have caused end of the dinosaurs (in the fictional Quantic Universe that the Miraculous Ladybug series takes place in); when he used his powers without the restrains of an owner.

Grimmel the Grisly[]

Grimmel may easily be cast as Ken Wheatley from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, due to him being an excellent marksman (especially as he uses sedative ammunitions on most occasions), despite being a less reputable animal poacher.
