Celtic AU (also known as Highland AU and Brave AU) is an AU (Alternate Universe) within the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons universe and the Rise of the Brave Tangled Frozen Dragons universe. In the AU, Rapunzel, Merida, Hiccup and Jack Frost are all portrayed as people living in the Scottish Highlands. Because it is not canon, ideas for this AU are shown through fanfiction, fanart, and other fan-made works.

About this AU[]

In this AU, the big four are portrayed as Scots, Celtics and Archers from the Highlands. Because Merida - one of the original members of the big four - is a princess of highlands, this AU usually involves itself within the plot and settings from Brave, setting the characters as people from the Kingdom of DunBroch, being cast as characters from the film or mirroring their roles, though this is not required.

Spinoff AUs of Brave[]

Featured Characters[]

The Big Four[]

Merida DunBroch[]

Because she is already a scot, Merida most commonly plays herself (much in the same way that Hiccup plays himself in the Viking AU), acting as future queen of DunBroch and master archer that passes her skills to her friends. Fans have cast her as a Celtic Warrior or Princess, defending her land from the Romans.

Rapunzel Corona[]

Rapunzel is portrayed as the princess and upcoming queen of the highlands or of her own clan. But as the kind of "lady" that Elinor wants her daughter to be, rather than the tomboy that Merida is. Although that wouldn't stop Cassandra (from the Tangled TV series) from teaching her lady how to fight and defend herself.

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III[]

Both Stoick and Valka have Scottish accents, could mean that Hiccup is part Scottish or had ancestors living in the highlands before they moved to the Archipelago. This theory has made it easy to have Hiccup as an hair to the highlands or of his own clan, making him one of the first born suitors for the princess's hand. This thought could tie in with the times when the Mericcup paring has Hiccup and Merida swap cultures and roles with one another, along with the fact that Hiccup has been shown to have some archery skills himself, it has got him to be placed as a Scottish prince or warrior who is a skilled archer or swordsman. Which makes him a Merida-like character, even though this rare conclusion differs from story to story, and simply have the Viking as a Scottish version of himself. Like featuring Hiccup as a Scottish Blacksmith.

Jack Frost[]

Jack's crock like staff makes him a Shepherd, taking care of sheep or highland actual with his sister, as his original human self. He is also portrayed as a young scot wearing a blue kilt and is trying to get the princess's attention.

Extra Characters[]

Queen Elsa[]

Fans have made Elsa the Queen of the coldest parts of the Highlands or have cast her as Merida, as she strengthens the bond between her and her sister much like how Merida got closer to her mother again.

Astrid Hofferson[]

Astrid is commonly seen as a Merida-like characters, from being a young median that has been trained in combat and knows how to wield a sword.

Vanellope von Schweetz[]

Since Vanellope meets the Netizen version of Merida in Ralph Breaks the Internet, while traveling through the physical world within the real-life internet, fans can cast Vanellope as her for fun.

Princess Anna[]

Reconnecting with her older sister and using her love for Elsa to save her, sometimes has fans portraying Anna as Merida.

Olaf[]

Some fans have either cast or simply dressed Olaf up as Merida, for fun. There are also a few fans who are hoping that future Olaf Presents shorts would have the snowman preforming Brave.

The Nokk[]

The Nokk being a mythical horse that resides within the ocean and has aquatic powers, that it uses to drown people in one of the deleted scenes of Frozen II, fans could possibly feature the Nokk as a Kelpie from the Celtic myths about a horse that comes out of the rival so they could find people to drown and later eat, by tricking them into getting on its back for a ride.

Cassandra[]

Cassandra's personality and being a female warrior who was also forced to act as a lady strongly casts her as Merida.

Mirabel Madrigal[]

Alma Madrigal[]

Stoick the Vast[]
