Barbara Keynes, better known as the current Knightowl, is a member of New York's United Heroez who has been mentioned in the Miraculous Ladybug series before she makes her first (non-comic book) appearance in its first TV special film, Miraculous World: New York – United HeroeZ.

Appearance[]

Knightowl Square

Knightowl

As Knightowl she wears a several brown and purple shades color scheme suit with an owl-like theme and cape. The brown mask with green lenses contains a voice modulator so she can hide her true gender and identity, and due to the fact that most of her predecessors were male.

Personality[]

Powers and Abilities[]

Barbara possesses no special or magical abilities, making her a normal, everyday human woman. Even though many of the other heroes in New York have superpowers while both she and her daughter don't posses any of their own, her past life as Sparrow did allow her to gain her enhanced strength, along with being taught in the combat and stealth superhero skills she now uses as Knightowl while passing these skills and knowledge from her experience down to Jess so she can serve as her Sparrow.

Weapons[]

Knightowl wields bird shaped boomerangs that look a bit like throwing stars, along with having a wing styled jetpack for air rescues, missions and to help "him" get across the city by air.

Role in the Crossover[]

Jessica Keynes[]

The flashbacks in the first Miraculous World film shows that Barbara once held the title of Sparrow from when she assisted her generation's Knightowl, who later passed his title onto her; while she gave her former title to her daughter when she picked Jess to serve as her Sparrow. This indicates that Barbara hoped to one day to pass her current hero title onto Jess when it was her turn to pass the mantel to her loyal sidekick, while Jess gives her former title to one she'll pick to serve as her Sparrow. Because all of the past known Knightowls and Sparrows before them were males, Barbara and Jess lie about their female genders in order to honour the tradition and their mission.

Olympia Hill/Majestia[]

Barbara and Olympia are shown to be very close. Even though Olympia didn't give birth to Aeon like Barbara did with Jess, she does know the internal feels of motherhood that Barbara has for Jess from forming a strong mother and daughter bond with Aeon.
