Appearance[]

Personality[]

As a child, Andy was a typical young boy who loved his family, his friends, and playing with his toys. He had an active imagination while playing, and showcased his creative prowess through the settings of his playtime. However, while Andy did treat his toys with love and care, he, in the typical manner of a child, did have his favorites in particular order, and his interest at the time depended on the toy itself. And, like a child, Andy was fickle with his choices, easily casting away his old favorite for the new one that has caught his attention, hence why Woody’s jealousy of Buzz arose in such conflict in the first place. In spite of this, he did still love all his toys equally. Aside from his involvement with the toys, though, not much is seen of Andy’s character himself, although it is easy to define him as a typically happy, and eager little boy, who had a lot of patience and care for his family, especially his baby sister who interrupted a lot of his activities (which most boys his age would be annoyed by). He also didn’t mind letting her play alongside him or let her use his own toys, and he hers vice versa.

However, years later, when Andy has grown into a teenager, his personality takes a change. He is now portrayed as being a gruff, easily irritated, and lethargic seventeen-year-old, whose patience for his sister has waned (although justifiable since Molly is a rather nosy pre-teen who does actively antagonize him, as is typical for a younger sibling), although his still retains his kind and compassionate nature. Now bound for college, Andy’s interests place conflict for his old toys because of his growing maturity, and he no longer has interest in actively playing with them, which he confirms verbally by calling them “junk” when being pestered by Molly. Though he no longer plays with them, Andy’s toys still secretly hold a place in his heart and he cherishes them because of their importance to him as a child, to the point where, in a moment of indecisiveness, he places Woody (his personal favorite) in his box for college with the intent of taking him with him.

In the end, despite his earlier claim of not caring about them, he finds it slightly difficult to let his toys go with Bonnie, especially when he found Woody (who had the same problem with his owner) inside the box. Eventually, though, Andy does agree to leave them with Bonnie, knowing that she needs them more than he does and wants her to have the happy childhood his toys gave him, showcasing his maturity as he drives off. He does still show some of his old habits, as well as his good relationship with kids, as he plays with Bonnie.

Powers and Abilities[]

Role in the Crossover[]

Much like his human figure toys, fanart has involved Andy with the Big Four (albeit very loosely). The fandom commonly focuses on his TD3 self than his child self from the first two films, similar to how many prefer to focus on the survival spy-like character that Penny Forrester plays in the Bolt TV series.
